Minnesota Newfoundland Rescue

Maddie

Maddie is a 1-year-old, grey, female Newfoundland. She is on the smaller side, at about 80-90lbs. She will not get any bigger (her growth plates have closed).

The Perfect Home for Maddie...

Priority placement for Maddie will go a home without children, or with children 10+ who are big-dog savvy. The home should have an attached physical, barrier fence at least four feet high. Additionally, Maddie has some mild anxiety/nervousness and potential applicants should be prepared to take some basic training classes with to help build her confidence. Applicants should have a desire to help her out of her shell, but a willingness to allow her to do so at her own pace. She is high-energy, and enjoys toys, bones, and stuffed Kongs. She enjoys chasing cats, and we are seeking a home for her without them.

Jack

Jack (2YO) is one of six dogs that came to us from North Dakota.

The Perfect Home for Jack...

Priority placement for Jack will go to a family having no children, or having children aged 10+. These children should be big-dog savvy. His adoptive family should be willing to use a crate for him during his transition period, as he is NOT house-trained. They should also have a secure, physical barrier fence, at least four feet tall. Jack is still being evaluated with strange/new dogs as well as with cats. Additionally, it should be noted that his adoptive family should be prepared to house train him and that he will need to wear a belly band as he learns to adjust to his new surroundings.

Jack has special medical needs. He has chronic kidney disease due to a congenital defect. While this does not effect his life to a great extent at this time, his general needs will be different from the average dog. He will need to remain on a low-protein diet that his body can process more easily. Additionally, he will need regular access to water and potty breaks. He will always be slightly underweight, due to the limitations of his body to gain weight.

Preference will be given to families who have carpeted floors (or LOTS of rugs) and few stairs. Additionally, while we accept applications from all over the country, we will be putting the most focus on applicants within 2 hours of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area (Jack will be requiring an in-person home visit).

Milly and Molly

Milly and Molly (6YO) are two of six dogs that came to us from North Dakota this past winter. They have been spending time with their foster home getting vetted and learning more about being pets.

The Perfect Home for Milly and Molly...

Milly and Molly will require a physically fenced yard and a home with no children or children aged 10+. Both girls are homebodies, and wouldn't be comfortable being "outing" dogs (at events, breweries, etc.). We are willing to consider families that would like to adopt both girls, but they are not required to go together at this time! They are alright with cats, although have little direct contact. They will also need some additional work on their house training.

Please, be aware that, while we accept applications from all over the country, we will be putting the most focus on applicants within 2 hours of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
